About Us
The Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company (PVFC) was established in 1923 after the Town of Purcellville endured a series of disastrous fires, the first in 1900 and then two more in 1914, which virtually wiped out the business district, depriving the Town of much of its earliest architectural heritage.

PVFC is a non-profit organization established to provide a variety of fire and other emergency services to the Town of Purcellville and surrounding area. We currently operate as a combination organization within the Loudoun County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management system with 100+ volunteer members and a number of career firefighters. Both men and women, between the ages of 16 and 60, staff our trucks, provide administrative support, and offer a variety of emergency services to the community.

Our Mission
The Purcellville Volunteer Fire Company (PVFC) is committed to protecting the lives and property within Purcellville, Virginia, and surrounding Loudoun County communities, residents, and visitors by providing the best possible fire, rescue, emergency, and emergency medical response services. We pledge to perform our duty with courage and dedication and strive to be active within our community and proactive with public education and prevention campaigns.
Our History
PVFC is a volunteer-led, public service, nonprofit organization providing fire suppression, rescue extrication, emergency medical services, and other all-hazard emergency responses to the citizens of Purcellville, VA, and surrounding communities of Loudoun County. PVFC is part of the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System (LC-CFRS) which is a combination system of both volunteer companies and career personnel. With 100+ volunteer members at PVFC, as well as a number of career firefighters, staff our apparatus as operational members, provide administrative support, and offer a variety of emergency services to the community. The Town of Purcellville, settled in 1764, is located 50 miles west of the Nation’s Capital along the Northern Ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a short drive from the Shenandoah River. Purcellville is a town of nearly 9,200 residents located in Loudoun County, approximately 40 miles west of Washington, DC. Once a stop along the W&OD rail line, Purcellville has maintained its historic old-town feel through the restoration and maintenance of its many downtown structures, reflecting the Victorian architecture popular during the early 1900s. Today, Purcellville is the economic hub of western Loudoun County and a popular weekend destination for antiquing, entertainment, farmer’s markets, wineries, breweries, distilleries and restaurants.

Coverage Areas

Loudoun County Fire and Rescue (LCFR) divides the County into first-due areas. A first due is the area that a specific fire company/station is expected to arrive first in when dispatched. PVFC is Station 602, and we have a first due that covers the Town of Purcellville (3.42 square miles) and some surrounding areas. Our apparatus is also dispatched into second- and third-due areas such as Hamilton, Round Hill, Philomont, Lovettsville, Loudoun Heights, and Leesburg. PVFC may also be dispatched to other areas throughout Loudoun County and surrounding counties such as Clarke County (VA), Fauquier County (VA), Jefferson County (WV), and Frederick County (MD) to provide mutual aid and coverage when other stations are on large or long-running calls.

Even if you don’t live in Purcellville, PVFC may still respond to your location. Join us to help protect all of Purcellville and surrounding communities !
