Independence Day Parade – Purcellville 4th

 Michael O'Brien    June 19, 2019    No Comments

The Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department and the Town of Purcellville are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted to participate in the annual Independence Day Parade. There is no cost to participate. Completed applications are due by July 1. The parade will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4th. Show your patriotic pride with family, friends, and neighbors and join in America’s birthday celebration! Apply online: https://www.purcellvilleva.gov/FormCenter/Parks-and-Rec-Forms-2/Purcellville-4th-of-July-Parade-Informat-69!

The theme for the 2019 parade is “Purcellville Celebrates America.” Participants are encouraged to include a creative patriotic theme, music, special effects, and other crowd-pleasing elements to their parade entries. The top three patriotic entries will receive a ribbon and a banner to display throughout the parade. Winners will be chosen by the Independence Day Parade judges. The Purcellville Gazette will hand off the “Liberty Cup” to the 2019 winner.

The parade route starts on Orchard Avenue, turns right onto Main Street, followed by a left onto Maple Avenue, and concludes at Loudoun Valley High School. The parade route will be closed to through traffic from approximately 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. As a convenience for families with small children or those with sensitive hearing, a “quiet zone” will be designated on Main Street along the parade route. Marked by signage, the quiet zone is a section of the parade route void of canon fire, sirens, and loud music from participants.
