On February 22, 2020, at 03:53am, units from Purcellville, Hamilton, Round Hill, Leesburg, Lovettsville, Ashburn and various command staff were alerted for car on fire into structure at 120 North 16th Street in Purcellville. First arriving units from Fire Station 602 found a passenger car on fire into the alpha/bravo corner on the bravo side wall of a two-story apartment building. Purcellville Police were on the scene actively evacuating the structure. It was not immediately clear how the vehicle ended up there as it was not occupied when first responders arrived. Purcellville Police located the driver a few minutes into the incident on side charlie and he was transported by EMS with non-life threatening injuries to a local hospital. BC602 established 16th Street Command while TL602 split there crew to deploy water cans, assume the two-out and send two personnel inside to check for extension and search. RE602 deployed a handline to extinguish the car fire, while E605 and E604 deployed hose lines interior to extinguish fire in the walls. The first floor apartment required some overhaul of the exterior wall while the second floor unit had minimal extension. TL602 worked from the bucket to check for extension in the exterior wall and attic space. All searches were negative, two apartments (4-6 people) were displaced overall.
