p idparagraph1ustrongWINTER STORM WARNING TONIGHT amp MONDAYstrongup p idparagraph2strongSUNDAY FORECAST DISCUSSIONstrongp p idparagraph3A high impact winter storm arrives tonight and will likely bring heavy snow to the DC Metro area early Monday morning.p p idparagraph4A strong cold front is entering western Maryland this morning. Ahead of this front mostly cloudy skies increasing moisture and south wind will push temperatures well into the 50s this afternoon.p p idparagraph5Rain chances arrive after 2 p.m. and steady rain is likely after 8 p.m. This cold front has Arctic air behind it and that bitterly cold air will change the rain over to snow during the overnight hours.p p idparagraph6Most of the Metro area will have 2-3 inches of snow on the ground by sunrise Monday. The heaviest snow is most likely to fall between 6 a.m. and noon.p p idparagraph7The snow will taper off on Monday afternoon but not before most areas have a solid 6 to 10 of snow on the ground. We will continue to post updated forecasts and graphics throughout the day and throughout the storm.p p idparagraph8Our temperatures will continue to fall Monday. Temperatures will be near 30 in the morning fall to near 20 by sunset and keep on falling into the single digits by Tuesday morning.p p idparagraph9Temperatures may not climb above freezing again until Wednesday afternoon so whatever snow does come down will stick around for quite a while. Because of the nature of the storm the snow could be heavy and wet making it difficult to shovel. Be careful. Take shovel-breaks and work in small sections.p p idparagraph10The cold pattern will continue for most of the week. Bundle up and stay warm.p
