Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers to the East as they mourn the loss of one of their own.We are brokenhearted to report the passing of our member, John Quade. John peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1st 2019. John was approaching ten years in the department, with the last three on the operational side. He started his volunteer firefighting career in Ashland, VA when he was in high school and later became an Officer with The Arlington County Police Department, where he served for over 30 years. He remained a volunteer firefighter throughout his career as a police officer as he loved it so much.

After he retired and moved to Ashburn, he joined AVFRD as an admin member for over six years. Three years ago, he moved to the operational side and joined the Wednesday crew; John fit right in and loved hearing our stories, and we loved hearing his. John's role on the Fire Engine was "lay out man" and did a great job, every time.

John was loved by so many - his big smile was infectious and his character was second to none. John's wife, Nora, their daughter Ginny, and anyone who knew John miss him greatly.
